vanilla banana chai smoothie

Smoothies are an emotional drama in our home. I love my Vitamix blender and my toddler hates it, turning into a sobbing panicky puddle as it blends with ear shattering efficiency. Asking if  he wants a smoothie causes such turmoil that his face screws up and he panics trying to figure out how to get a smoothie without my making all that noise. A few times a week I go through the ordeal and we both enjoy a tasty chai vanilla smoothie.

vanilla banana chai smoothie
serves 2

2  frozen bananas
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or plain unsweetened)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
4 pitted dates
1/2 tsp chai masala spice (like Arvinda's)
1 cup ice cubes
4 tbsp hemp protein powder (if you're into that sort of thing)

Add everything to blender, blend until smooth.  Drink up!
